Short answer

Can I download Chase transactions as CSV? Yes for recent activity, no for older months.

Chase lets you download recent account activity from the account page, usually as a spreadsheet (CSV), and in some cases as QFX or QBO files. How far back it goes is limited, so older months and closed accounts are in the monthly PDF statements. That is where converting the PDF helps.

Get your Chase statement as a PDF

The monthly statement is the complete record, with the opening and closing balances the check needs. These are the usual steps in Chase online banking.

  1. 1.Sign in at chase.com and open the account you want.
  2. 2.Open Statements & documents, from the account’s menu or the main menu.
  3. 3.Choose the account, then the year, then the statement for the month.
  4. 4.The statement opens as a PDF. Use your browser’s download or save button.
  5. 5.Repeat for each month. Credit card statements are in the same place, under the card account.

In the mobile app

  • In the Chase Mobile app, tap your profile or the menu, then Statements & documents.
  • Pick the account, the year and the month, then save or share the PDF.

The layout

What a Chase statement looks like

US statements print dates as month and day, often with no year, and many list money in and money out in separate sections. The sketch is ours, drawn from public information, and your own statement may differ.

DateDescriptionAmountBalance
Typical Chase checking layout, redrawn by us: one amount column with a sign and a balance column. Layouts vary by account type.
Dates without a year
Transaction dates are usually printed as month and day only. The year comes from the statement period, so look at the first and last rows of a statement that spans New Year.
One signed amount
Checking statements usually have a single Amount column, with withdrawals shown as negative numbers, plus a Balance column.
Summary first
Page one starts with a summary of beginning balance, deposits, withdrawals and ending balance. Those are the numbers the balance check uses.
Credit cards differ
Card statements list purchases as positive amounts and payments as negative, in sections such as payments, purchases, fees and interest. The converter flips them to your side.

Import

Import a converted Chase statement

Choose the format your software takes. All of them come from the same review, so you can download more than one.

QuickBooks Online or Desktop (QBO)

  1. 1.Download the QBO file from the review screen.
  2. 2.Online: Transactions, Bank transactions, Upload transactions. Desktop: File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files.
  3. 3.Pick the QuickBooks account, then review and accept the transactions. A credit card file goes into a credit card account.

  2. 2.In Quicken, choose File, then File Import, then Web Connect (.QFX) File. Others have an option to import a bank statement.

Excel or Google Sheets

  1. 1.Download Excel or CSV.
  2. 2.Open it. Dates and amounts come in as dates and numbers.

FAQ

Chase statements, answered

Can I download a Chase statement as CSV?
You can download recent account activity from the account page as a spreadsheet (CSV), but not the monthly statement itself. The monthly statements are PDFs. For older months, convert the PDF here.
Does it work for Chase credit card statements?
Yes. Chase card statements are text PDFs. They are read as credit card statements, with the previous and new balance used for the check.
Is this affiliated with JPMorgan Chase Bank?
No. Tableaf is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by JPMorgan Chase Bank. The name is used only to say which statements this page is about. Chase and its marks belong to their owners.
Is my Chase statement uploaded anywhere?
No. A text PDF is read by code running in your browser and the file you download is built there too. Nothing reaches our servers, and it keeps working offline after your first visit. How we handle your data.
How do I know every Chase transaction was read?
Every statement is checked against its printed opening and closing balances. If they don’t add up, the review screen shows “Off by” with the amount and points at the page or the row where the running balance breaks. Any text PDF should work, and that check is how you know it did.
Does it read a scanned or paper Chase statement?
Not yet. A scan has no text to read, so it needs OCR on a server, which is planned for paid plans. Statements you download from online banking are text PDFs and work today.
